Mormon Church Worker Charged With Child Sex Abuse

Volunteer Held At Methuen Jail

Methuen, Mass. -- Child abuse charges have been filed against a volunteer at a Mormon church in Methuen.

Newscenter 5's Gail Huff reported that the suspect in the case was scheduled to be arraigned at Lawrence District Court Wednesday morning. He was identified as Kevin F. Curlew, 43, of Dracut, Mass. He was a volunteer at the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints.

His responsibilities were to watch children who were attending events at the church with their parents. Investigators said Curlew assaulted a boy at the church over the past several months. Other children are also scheduled to be interviewed in the case.

Curlew will be facing charges of kidnapping, three counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, enticement of a child and reckless endangerment. He's being held on $25,000 bail.
