Former Klan leader accused of child sex abuse

Associated Press/January 11, 2007

Sharpsburg, Maryland -- The Sharpsburg man who -- until recently -- headed the World Knights of the Ku Klux Klan is facing child sex abuse charges.

Forty-year-old Gordon Young was arrested Wednesday and was being held yesterday on 350-thousand dollars bond.

Charging documents allege Young twice forced a girl to perform a sex act, touched her inappropriately and asked her to strip so she could join the Klan. Young faces seven counts, including two counts of second-degree assault and two counts of sex abuse of a minor.

Young announced in November that he was disbanding the Klan group to become a state organizer of the National Socialist Movement.
