Edmonton police investigate hate crime seizure

CBC/May 14, 2004

Edmonton -- A police investigation is underway in Edmonton following last Friday's seizure of forty items bearing Nazi symbols which were taken from the home of Glenn Bahr.

The stash included two computers police suspect were used to host a white supremist website and spread hate messages, along with flags and literature.

Bahr heads a group called Western Canada For Us, which has been accused of racism and whose members have shown support for Holocaust denier, Ernst Zundel.

Bahr claims his group doesn't advocate hate, rather it's concerned that European-Canadians are becoming a minority in Canada.

Bahr is no longer in Alberta and his website is no longer running.

Police believe there are 4,000 sites on the internet which propagate hate and the most popular have a strong Canadian membership.
