Michael K. Faust Has Alleged Ties To White Supremacist Movement

A Racine County man with reported ties to the white supremacist movement is in federal custody on a number of firearms charges.

As federal and local police closed in on Michael K. Faust, 35, his parents said he was with other white supremacists at a rally in Milwaukee in November.

Their investigation led to his arrest a few weeks later and a six-count federal indictment charging him with possession of firearms by a felon and possession of a sawed-off shotgun.

The investigation started when allegations surfaced that Faust was recruiting teenage boys as young as 13 into the movement and training them on how to use the weapons in the fields surrounding his grandmother's Franksville, Wis., farm where he'd been living.

"Not only is it illegal for underage people to have those kinds of weapons, but obviously you have to wonder what they're going do with them," Racine Police Department Sgt. William Macemon said.

Racine police, the FBI, and Caledonia police searched the farm last month and found nine guns, including a Chinese-made AKS assault rifle and five handguns.

They were stashed all over the farm and farmhouse, including in a secret compartment in some stairs, under a rock pile near the barn and even in the dog kennel, authorities said.

Racine police said the investigation is ongoing.

If convicted, Faust could face up to 60 years in prison.

Faust previously served eight years in prison for the attempted murder of a 14-year-old Kenosha boy.

Faust's parents told 12 News their son has a mental illness. He's been committed for a mental competency evaluation prior to his next court appearance.
