Do you need insurance if the world is ending?

The Abilene Reporter/June 11, 2008

Russell Jones opened the front door of his Abilene apartment today to find a freshly placed life and auto insurance brochure hanging from the doorknob.

But wait, Jones, thought, didn't the insurance agent who delivered it - Yibniyah Hawkins - know that the world was ending Thursday?

After all, Hawkins' address on T&P Lane (according to the Texas Department of Insurance) is owned by House of Yahweh founder Yisrayl Hawkins. The same Yisrayl Hawkins who predicted the world will end Thursday in a nuclear holocaust.

"We're not supposed to be here Thursday, and he's selling automobile insurance," Jones said.

Drawn in part from an interpretation of the Book of Revelation in the Bible, Yisrayl Hawkins has been predicting a nuclear holocaust for a number of years now. One significant date, Sept. 12, 2006, was tied to what he terms the birth of a "nuclear baby."
