Televangelist Benny Hinn is moving to Orange County to be closer to his Aliso Viejo TV production studio and set up a new home base.

Hinn, a pastor of the World Outreach Church, is considered one of the fastest-rising televangelists in the nation.

"This is a move they've been contemplating for some time," his spokesman, David Brokaw, said of the Hinn family. "He feels really quite at home in Orange County."

Rev. Ralph Wilkerson, a long-time friend, said Hinn is moving west because "it's a center for evangelism."

The Rev. Robert Schuller broadcasts his services from the Crystal Cathedral in Orange, and the Trinity Broadcasting Network is based in Costa Mesa.

Hinn has lived in a second home in south Orange County for at least a year. By June, when his children are out of school, he plans to move his family here.

For more than two months, Hinn has taped his TV show, "This Is Your Day," at his Orange County facility. The show reaches several million people in more than 60 countries.

Brokaw said the move will not affect Hinn's central Florida ministry, which employs 400 people. The church and its fund-raising arm will stay in Florida.

Hinn's followers say he has cured everything from varicose veins to cancer, and heavyweight boxing champ Evander Holyfield credits Hinn with healing his defective heart. But others have questioned Hinn's healing claims and fund-raising methods.
