‘Doomsday cult’ mom of missing kids believes she’s a god: court docs

The doomsday cult member whose two kids are missing believed that she was a god, warning her late husband that she would kill him if he interfered with her preparations for the end of the world, according to a report.

Lori Vallow Daybell allegedly became “infatuated” and “at times obsessive” about near-death experiences before her two children, Tylee Ryan, 17, and Joshua Vallow, 7, disappeared in September from Rexburg, Idaho, news station KSTU reported.

The new revelations about the mom’s affiliation with the doomsday group Preparing a People were uncovered in court documents, which were filed by her late husband, Charles Vallow, on Feb. 15, 2019, as he sought a divorce.

Charles’ lawyer wrote in the court papers that Lori “informed [Charles] that she was a God assigned to carry out the work of the 144,000 at Christ’s second coming in July 2020 and that if [Charles] got in her way of her mission she would murder him.”

“[Lori] also informed Father that she is a translated being who cannot taste death sent by God to lead the 144,000 into the Millennium,” court documents obtained by KSTU said. “[Lori] believes that she is receiving spiritual revelations and visions to help her gather and prepare those chosen to live in the New Jerusalem after the Great War as prophesied in the book of Revelations.”

Charles also alleged that he was on a business trip to Houston when Lori told him that she would kill him when he returned and “had an angel there to dispose of his body.”

In July, Charles was killed in an altercation at Lori’s home in Arizona when he went to pick up their son, the outlet reported.

While there, Lori’s brother, Alex Cox, fatally shot Charles, claiming self-defense in the incident, KSTU said. Neither Lori nor Cox were charged in the case.

Charles’ sister, Kay Woodlock, said he wasn’t the first of Lori’s husbands to die in the past few years, KSTU reported.

Charles was Lori’s fourth spouse, and Tylee Ryan’s father, Joseph Ryan, died in 2018 of a heart attack, she claims.

“She’s a black widow,” Woodlock told the outlet. “[Husband] three and [husband] four are dead.”

Lori hasn’t been cooperating with authorities in her children’s disappearance but doesn’t face any charges in the case. She denies any wrongdoing, insisting she is a “devoted mother.”

“Lori Daybell is a devoted mother and resents assertions to the contrary,” attorney Sean Bartholick told East Idaho News. “We look forward to addressing the allegations once they have moved beyond speculation and rumor.”
