Monk charged with inappropriate touching of temple-goer Comments

A Buddhist monk is free on bond after being charged with inappropriately touching a congregant at a west suburban meditation center over the weekend.

Chaliaw Chetawan, 27, of Thailand, was charged with one count of battery, a Class A misdemeanor, according to a release from the DuPage County Sheriff's office.

The incident happened at the Wat Buddhadhamma Meditation Center in the 8900 block of Kingery Highway in Willowbrook this past weekend, the release said. The victim alleged he was inappropriately touched by Monk Chetawan while at the temple on Sunday morning.

Information on the victim's age was not immediately available Wednesday afternoon.

Chetawan turned himself in to sheriff's police on the charge. He was released after posting bond.
