Weber man pleads guilty to sex abuse

Desert News, Utah/September 26, 2008

Ogden - An ex-LDS bishop has pleaded guilty to a pair of child sex abuse counts.

Timothy O'Sean McCleve, 53, pleaded guilty to the second-degree felony charges during an appearance in 2nd District Court Wednesday. He faces up to 15 years on each count when he is sentenced, which is scheduled for Nov. 26.

Harrisville police said McCleve was bishop over a local ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that some of the victims attended. While the parents were away, he would often visit them at home, police said, where some of the alleged abuse had taken place.

Police were first alerted after one of the girls heard news reports about a first-grade teacher accused of sex abuse. The girl told her parents the same thing happened to her. The other girls made similar disclosures.
