2nd ORU regent resigns

Associated Press/December 19, 2007

Tulsa -- For the second time in a week a regent is resigning from the Oral Roberts University board of regents.

ORU announced Tuesday that televangelist Jesse Duplantis is stepping down as a regent. The announcement comes after Creflo Dollar resigned as a regent last week and regent Benny Hinn lost his status as a voting member.

The changes come following the November 23rd resignation of ORU President Richard Roberts and the promise of a $70 million donation to the school by businessman Mart Green.

Green has said the donation is tied to "significant changes" being made at ORU.

Meanwhile regents Chairman George Pearsons has appointed a committee to oversee the university's separation from the Oral Roberts Evangelistic Association. Pearsons says he hopes most of the separation will be finished by April 30th.
