White-robed cultists stop again 20 kms along Gifu road

Kyodo News in Japan Today/May 2, 2003

Gifu -- Members of a group dressed in white robes on Friday parked a caravan of white vehicles again on a road in Gifu Prefecture, about 20 kilometers northeast from the site where they had camped out for about a week.

The group, known officially as Panawave Laboratory, has been under police surveillance as local residents and authorities have voiced concern over their cult-like activities, such as dressing in white clothing from head to toe, and saying they are protecting their female leader from electromagnetic waves.
