FLDS arrests: Read more about it

The Salt Lake Tribune/March 5, 2009

Mohave County Sheriff's deputies arrested two Colorado City men Tuesday in a dispute over use of the Berry Knoll Farm, an area FLDS members say has historical and religious significance to their faith.

Richard Clarence Jessop, 37, and Thomas L Jessop, 21, were arrested Tuesday afternoon. Richard Jessop and others had been plowing a field on the Berry Knoll Farm for the past 10 days or so, said Willie Jessop, a spokesman for the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Richard Jessop's family has farmed the land since 1972, Willie Jessop said. But the United Effort Plan Trust has leased the property to someone else.
