Judge sets date for SIST CEO hearing

Shawano Leader/February 13, 2009

A misdemeanor charge of obstructing an officer filed against the CEO of the Samanta Roy Institute of Science and Technology will go forward - at least for now.

Naomi Isaacson was in Shawano County Circuit Court Thursday for an adjourned initial appearance on the charge, which resulted from a disturbance last August at the former Ponderosa restaurant, located on property SIST owns.

Isaacson's attorney, Alan Eisenberg, said he planned to file a motion having the charge dismissed because the municipal citation for loitering that led to the obstruction charge had been thrown out last month in municipal court.

Judge James Habeck did not rule on that motion, but set a date of April 6 at 9:30 a.m. for those arguments to be heard.
