SIST bankruptcy petition dismissed; creditors try to collect

WSAU News Talk, Wisconsin/May 26, 2010

The bankruptcy filing of the Shawano County-based religious cult Samanta Roy Institute of Technology has been dismissed. They filed for bankruptcy last March. Late last year a bankruptcy judge dismissed the case, saying SIST showed gross mismanagement and lack of candor in their financial dealings. An appeal was upheld earlier this week.

Groups that are owed money by SIST can now attempt to collect it. Several of SIST's properties were in foreclosure, and those cases can now be re-started.

The group claimed more than $22-million in liabilities.
