Phoenix - Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas says a Buckeye man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for his role in two racially motivated attacks in Phoenix.
Thomas says 31-year-old Chad Kerns pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated assault in July for the separate 2007 attacks. Kerns was sentenced Friday.
In March 2007, Kerns and several co-defendants confronted a man wearing an anti-Nazi shirt. Police say the suspects made "white power" comments and hit the Hispanic victim in the head with a barstool.
Thomas says Kerns also stabbed a black man outside a Phoenix drug store. Police believe as many as nine gang members also verbally abused the victim using racial slurs.
Kerns has said he isn't an active skinhead. He has a tattoo on his head that reads "Skinhead."
