Background On Group Charged With Murder, Child Neglect

ABC7/February 11, 2002

Police used DNA testing to confirm 45- year-old Winnfred Wright - also known as Rasheen Nyah - is the father of the 12 surviving children. And the one who died in November, at the home in Marinwood.

Today, the I-Team checked Wright's former addresses in San Francisco, including one in Visitacion Valley. We found one neighbor who met the murder suspect, and saw many of his children.

Jose Martinez, Former Neighbor: "Very short tempered, very short tempered. Seem like a mean person to me. They really didn't associate with anybody, they just kept to themselves."

We also learned today about a civil complaint filed in 1991 against Wright and two of the women also being charged in the child's death - 44- year-old Carol Bremner, and 37-year-old Deirdre Wilson. A woman filed for a restraining order because she said the three were harassing her. The I-Team contacted the victim today, and she declined to comment saying she has "reason enough not to talk."

Two years after that case, Wright was living in another San Francisco neighborhood near stern grove, with Carol Bremner. Sources at the San Francisco Police Department say he was arrested and charged with two counts of "threatening a crime with intent to terrorize" and two counts of "intimidating a witness." But, those charges were dismissed.

Now, police describe Wright as being unemployed, but neighbors spotted the women he was living with coming to and from the house in this jeep from Modamas Inc., a painting contractor.

We checked the company's offices in San Francisco and left messages for the owners today, but have not heard back.

We also checked with the Department of Corrections, and Wright has not served time in any state prison.
