Former Benny Hinn church sells to lender at auction

Orlando Sentinel/July 9, 2014

The church once owned by famed televangelist Benny Hinn was auctioned off online on Tuesday, with the winning bid placed by a California credit union whose lawsuit put the property into foreclosure.

Evangelical Christian Credit Union now owns the property on Forest City Road, the former home of Hinn's World Outreach Center, most recently owned by pastor Clint Brown's Faith World Center.

The winning bid was $1.85 million, but the credit union was allowed to bid with credit in the amount it was owed by Faith World. That church defaulted on its mortgage late last year, still owing $9.7 million.

Brown relocated his church, under a new name, to Wekiva High School's auditorium last month. Hinn sold the property to Faith World in 2000, after relocating World Outreach Center to Texas the year prior.
