Don't mention Scientology around Kate Ceberano

The Sunday Telegraph, Australia/July 29, 2012

She's one of Australia's most high-profile Scientologists, but when it comes to discussing her religion, it's a touchy subject for Kate Ceberano.

While giving the media a sneak peek of her role in the musical South Pacific, which premieres in Sydney next month, Insider asked Ceberano about the recent scandal to engulf Scientology.

The religion has come under fire in recent weeks in the wake of Tom Cruise's split from wife Katie Holmes.

Like Cruise, Ceberano is a devoted Scientologist, which some have claimed is a sect.

"That's inappropriate," Ceberano said before cutting the conversation dead. Up until the mention of the dreaded "S" word, she had been more than happy to chat. With a frosty smile she walked away, making it clear her faith was a no-go zone.

In past interviews, Ceberano has labelled her beliefs as not much different to attending a mainstream church.

It has been claimed the controversial faith is one of the reasons Holmes, 33, filed for divorce from Cruise last month.Reports suggested Holmes did not want daughter Suri, 6, caught up in Scientology's education programs.
