Scientology Scrubs Foley From Its Site

Radar Magazine/October 5, 2006

Mark Foley's press is so bad, even the Scientologists want nothing to do with him. Following speculation that the disgraced ex-congressman was receiving treatment for alcoholism at a Scientology-run rehab center in Clearwater, Florida, the Church's Flag Service Organization has removed a photo of Foley from its Web site.

A cached version of the page shows Foley accepting leather-bound copies of two books by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard—Dianetics and The Way to Happiness—from a Church official at a brunch hosted by the Clearwater Business Association. The Flag Service Organization is a religious retreat for Scientologists, while the Clearwater Business Association appears to be a front group designed to give the Church easier access to politicians.
