Church of Scientology of Tampa buys Ybor Square: It's a done deal

The Daily Loaf, Florida/May 6, 2010

Per a letter sent last night to Creative Loafing's chief financial officer, CL now has a new landlord: The Church of Scientology of Tampa, Inc.

We broke the story of the prospective purchase last weekend on the Daily Loaf after finding documentation of the deal-in-progress at the City of Tampa zoning office.

That news was a surprise to most of Ybor, most especially to CL and our fellow tenants in Ybor Square (which include Centurion Center, an executive suite rental company with a 16-year lease on two floors of offices). According to plans submitted by COS to the zoning office, the Church wants to occupy the entire complex except ("for the foreseeable future") the Warehouse Building, where CL recently moved its offices to a large space above the Spaghetti Warehouse restaurant.

After the break, read the letter from Zybor, Inc. to Angela La Fon or rather, to "Angela LaFron." Let's hope the new owners at least know how to spell our names.
