International sect recruits under a different name

Expatica, Belgium/January 30, 2007

Brussels - Posters and banners promoting the Centre Argos can be seen around Brussels, most of which harbour the catch phrase: "Connais-toi toi-même"or, in English: "Know yourself".

According to the posters, the organisation teaches philosophy and invites anyone interested to come to an "information gathering" beingheld on January 30.

No cause for concern at first sight. But, as the anti-sect organisation "ResistanceS" said after detecting the posters, Argos suspiciously resembles the international sect know as "Nouvelle Acropole".

Also spotted is that one of the addresses on the "Nouvelle Acropole"website is the same as that of Argos in Anderlecht. In 2005 "NouvelleAcropole" had used the Anderlecht address in a recruiting campaign asanti-sect protesters demonstrated in front of the Paris headquarters.

Critics of the sect say that they are acting under a different name tolure new recruits, who know, and have a negative opinion of "NouvelleAcropole".

A parliamentary investigation dating from 1997 stated that the sect hadan "internal paramilitary structure" and was affiliated with far-rightgroups.
