Rampal has no property in Punjab, Rajasthan, Goa: Haryana to HC

Hindustan Times/May 5, 2015

Controversial sect head Rampal does not have any properties or bank deposits in Punjab, Rajasthan or Goa, said the Haryana government in a reply during the resumed hearing of the contempt proceedings against Rampal in the Punjab and Haryana high court on Monday.

The Haryana government placed on record the reply to its letters to Punjab, Rajasthan and Goa seeking details of properties of Rampal and his ashrams in the three states.

The Haryana government has also placed on record the reply of three banks - Dhanlaxmi Bank, Punjab and Sind Bank and Citi Bank - stating that Rampal does not have any account in their banks. The case would now come up for hearing on July 30.
Rampal is facing contempt proceedings for allegedly interfering in the judicial proceedings during the hearing of a case before the Hisar sessions court on July 14, 2014, when his supporters marched inside the district court complex in Hisar and tried to create trouble in the court proceedings.

Rampal, 63, was arrested on November 19, 2014, after a two-week standoff between his supporters and the police at Satlok Ashram in Barwala of Hisar district.
