Concord, N.H. -- A white supremacist from Hampton, N.H., facing a federal murder-for-hire charge pleaded guilty to a lesser offense Tuesday morning.

Russell Seace, 32, pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. The plea agreement calls for a seven-year prison sentence. He could have been sentenced to 10 years in prison if he had been convicted of murder for hire.

Investigors said Seace was on parole for burglary when he accepted a Colt .45 and ammunition from a witness cooperating with the FBI. Prosecutors said he agreed to murder a Hispanic state prison inmate who was about to be released. Seace allegedly accepted a $500 down payment.

Seace is a member of Aryan Nations, a quasi-religious white supremacist group based in Idaho. He will be sentenced in U.S. District Court in August.
