ABC Radio, Australia/March 27, 2007

The partner of a Papua New Guinea cult leader called "black Jesus" has surrendered to police.

PNG Correspondent Steve Marshall reports, Dorothy Gasan, surrendered after learning cult leader Steven Tari was arrested two weeks ago.

Police claim the 18 year old helped Mr Tari seduce and sexually abuse young girls.

However Ms Gasan claims she is also a victim of the so-called "black Jesus" who along with his followers forced her to be his wife.

Mr Tari is expected to be charged with an array of offences including rape, murder and possibly cannibalism.

Police are seeking to interview more young girls over the next few days.
