Sexual Abuse Lawsuit Filed Against Sioux City Diocese, Clergy Member

KPTH Fox News, Sioux City/October 26, 2010

A sexual abuse lawsuit targets the Sioux City Catholic Diocese and a clergy member.

A former Sioux City resident claims Father Nicholas Ruba sexually abused her between 1969 and 1976, while he was a Pastor at St. Michael's Parish.

The lawsuit includes seven counts, including conspiracy to commit sexual abuse and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

The Diocese issued a statement saying: "It is the policy of the Diocese of Sioux City to take very seriously all claims of sexual abuse of a minor by members of the clergy, to investigate them promptly and objectively, and to take appropriate measures, both as regards the alleged victim and the alleged perpetrator."
