Necedah Woman Accused of Keeping Body in House Due in Court

WSAW News, Wisconsin/August 20, 2008

Tammy Lewis is due in Juneau County court today for a status conference.

The 36-year-old Necedah woman is accused of hiding a corpse in her home for several weeks.

Last month, Lewis' attorney and the Juneau County District Attorney met to work on a possible plea deal in the case, but neither commented on the negotiations.

Lewis is accused along with 58-year-old self styled religious leader Alan Bushey of hiding the body of a 90-year-old sect member in Lewis' bathroom for weeks so they could go on collecting her social security and annuities.

Both Lewis and Bushey are facing felony counts of hiding a corpse, causing mental harm to Lewis' children, and theft.
